More Information: The 24th annual Pikes Peak Writers Conference is right around the corner, so why not start the party now? Whether you are new to conference, or just want to get the energy flowing early, this will be a Write Brain for you. Jason Henry (the 2016 Conference Director) and Susan Mitchell (the 2016 Programming Director) will turn the focus of this Write Brain to conference and give you valuable information to help improve your conference experience. What are Read & Critique appointments? What is a Query 1-on-1? Learn some of the conference lingo and get helpful tips to make the most of conference without burning out. Susan and Jason will also talk about this year’s faculty and programming. Who are the keynote speakers? What’s new? What workshops will there be? Photo shoots? Book signing? Recordings?
Then, after your conference questions are answered, you will get the chance to sit down with some of the Pikes Peak Writers veterans for a practice Query 1-on-1 appointment. Bring two copies of your one page query letter, and we’ll show you what to expect when you sit down with an agent or editor, and help you survive!
About the Presenters:
Ask Jason P. Henry what he’s thinking, but only at your own risk. He may be exploring his dark side as he writes Romance but, most likely, he’s lost in a world of serial killers, psychopaths, and other unsavory folks. After all, his happy place is plotting a murder, considering the next victim, or twisting seemingly innocent things into dark and demented ideas. Primarily a Suspense, Thriller and Horror writer with a dark, twisted sense of humor, Jason strives to make people squirm, cringe, and laugh. He loves to offer a smile, but is quick to leave you wondering what lies behind it. Jason P. Henry is best summed up by the great philosopher Eminem “I’m friends with the monsters beside of my bed, get along with the voices inside of my head.” Learn more about Jason at www.jasonphenry.com.
Susan Mitchell has a degree in English from Northern Arizona University. Her work has appeared in literary magazines including George and Mertie’s Place, Poetry Motel and Wordwrights. She writes and produces local television commercials, promotions and programs. She has written and produced projects for TLC, regional ABC, NBC and CBS affiliates. Susan is also completing work on a darkly humorous horror series and a bone chilling screenplay. Facebook Event: Want to see who else is coming? Check here.
