Quote of the Week, Week to Come, I Write Because... & Contest

"For me, a page of good prose is where one hears the rain [and] the noise of battle." -John Cheever

This week on Writing From the Peak...

...Jax Hunter takes us through the Hero's Journey with her 8th article in the Story Tips series.

...Aaron Michael Ritchey gives us Monkeys Misbehaving.

...and Karen Albright Lin examines Backstory, in a three part series.

Now for some more in the I Write Because series, taken from conference attendees who detailed why they write:

I Write Because...

...If I don't I think I'd roll up in the fetal position, start to babble and eventually drool all over myself.

...I was told that I wouldn't be alive today. Writing is living!

...Pitching is so much Fun!

...I love words. I love the beauty of words, the symphony of words linked to say new things, or to say old things in a new way. I love the power, the glory, the exaltation of writing, the joy of finding just the right words. I love writing.

...My inner, true self has a place in my writing.

...Because I have a story to tell.

...I have a story that needs to be heard.

...Reading makes me happy, and I want to share my happiness with others.

...I can't not!

And guess what: the new, improved Pikes Peak Writers Fiction Contest is back. However, before we make it official, it needs a name. Check out the "Contest" tab for more information.
